Party night. The best of nights. An ornate sign on 33 Apocalypse’s door invited all to knock and make themselves known.

The space inside was bigger than it looked from the outside, stretched and displaced by magic. The wallpaper was green and textured, hinting at the English countryside. On one side of the room sat a significant bar offering food and drinks, while the other gave ample space to sit. A large Jenga tower held prominence in a corner.

It was easy to miss it, though, in favor of the little streams of water that ran across furniture and floor. Tiny glass gondolas, animated by magic, made their way back and forth across each stream. The gondolas were real, though the water itself was an illusion. It called attention to the ceiling, doubly enchanted: both to draw all cigarette smoke to itself so it wouldn’t blow in anyone’s face, but also to mimic the starry sky above Venice.

You could watch the stars twinkle, or see the occasional cloud go by. Magical fireflies added to the illusion, dancing through the air like tiny lights. If you listened closely, you could hear the sea rolling in across an invisible beach. Even the air smelled faintly of it: the sea, warm food and good wine.

Welcome to Eliot and Margo’s pad, people. They’d make damn sure you had a good time.

Margo or Eliot will greet you at the door. They have a stack of masks and a stack of cosmetic spells ready for you, if you need them.

“Fuck I hope people actually show up.” Margo had put in a ton of effort here. It wasn’t easy finding a dress that walked the line between ‘medieval queen’ and ‘modern party goddess’, ‘couture’ and ‘something that won’t scare the children’. Even the purple metal mask, its right eye covered with a black lens that fit perfectly in front of the eye Margo didn’t have and little magical flames licking up along its sides, held some this-ain’t-Oculto-Encanto compromise.

Fuck, what if nobody showed up?

She was too fabulous for this kind of insecure bullshit.

Irene had promised to wear something fabulous, and while there was certainly no shortage of fabulousness in her wardrobe, she did only have so many masquerade masks to choose from.

When in doubt, however, make a statement, and there weren't many pieces more statement-y than her raspberry Alex Perry jumpsuit and accompanying matching mask. She'd left her hair down, wavy and swept over one shoulder, and accented the whole thing with some simple silver chains around her neck and a delicate bangle or two at her wrists.

Was it a little breezy for mid-October? Sure, but it would be warm in the party, Irene was sure, and moreover, sacrifices needed to be made.

Well, Wanda had to come and support her employee's party (or was it weird for your boss to come?). In true Scarlet Witch fashion, the mask and dress she wore were both red. It was her thing, okay? Let her have it.

She would be extremely impressed by the house, especially when she discovered it was bigger on the inside. One day she would try that kind of magic on her apartment when she wasn't in fear of destroying the town by accident.

If it were anywhere else, Amaya might have considerable second thoughts about attending some fancy party where magic was likely to be involved, but this was Fandom, so that made it plenty different enough that she supposed she wouldn't feel too uncomfortable or wind up spending all evening rolling her eyes straight out of her head. And since she really only had the one fancy dress, she briefly considered actually finding herself something new, then she staunchly reminded herself that she was not here to impress anyone...no one at all!....so she was sticking with the one fancy dress she had that miraculously didn't even have any oil or soot on it.

Though, despite previous claims about not wanting to impress anyone, she'd spent a good few days whipping up a metal mask to match in her shop that week, which she'd just put the finishing touches on that day, actually, and that she was pretty proud of and might be a little put out if no one wound up being even a little impressed by it.

Lucille might not be on the best of terms with the hostess, but she assumed Margo would get over the poison business soon enough, and things like that were rarely an issue when it came to parties here. She arrived wearing her finest gown along with a mask she had purchased a while ago for an occasion like this.

Outside of his Crownsguard uniform, Gladio never really was much of a fancy-dress kind of guy. Thankfully, he was buddies with someone who was, but he was pretty sure Ignis would have a few choice words to say about not being involved at all in Gladio's attempts to make a nice suit distinctly his own.

Look, his other option for this thing involved the words 'sequined cape with a high collar', so....you're welcome.

He was also pretty pleased to have found a mask that really played into his whole eagle/wing aesthetic a little bit.

Honestly, she had tried to find a pair of gloves that fit the season, but they were either for outdoor use, made of lace or fingerless, and there were limits. So Seivarden was wearing elbow-high black leather gloves along with an orange shirt that she had picked up on the shopping trip with Summer.

It made her think of Summer, which obviously wasn't a good thing. Attaching the pins from Athoek made her think of home, and of the fact that she would probably never have one from Breq, because Breq was Breq and wouldn't think about it.

She looked about as cheerful as could be expected.

Annie and Diego both had something of a brand to adhere to, here, which might have made coordinating difficult -- but fortunately black and gold went great together.

Hence the gold filigree mask that Annie was sporting, which of course matched Diego's black and gold one -- and, even more of course, her dress, which she hoped was fancy enough.

Good news, Buck's mask had come in on time for the party. He wore a simple black suit that Maddie had approved of over FaceTime so you know it couldn't have been too terrible.

He hoped he wasn't crashing this thing. He hadn't actually realized he met one of the hosts yesterday either.

Since Ignis rather prided himself in being exceptionally well dressed at almost all times, he figured the party that evening would be an excellent time to at least debut this new red shirt he'd been eying for a while and finally decided to splurge on.

Especially since it was clearly all about the masks, anyway.

Sans glasses, of course. It wasn't as if he really needed them, anyway.

When it came to stuff like this, Prompto was definitely just going to listen to Ignis's advice and keep it nice and simple and also not listen to Gladio's advice about losing the shirt like him, because why would Prompto ever do that to himself???

The mask, however, was all him, and he felt it went very nicely with his signiture hairstyle, which did not only serve to make it resemble a chocobo butt more, his roommates were just horrible people who couldn't let a slanderous and untrue joke go!

Stark always wore a mask. Stark always wore the same mask, out of necessity and lack of other options, and tonight was no exception. Hopefully that was acceptable here.

He did not, however, always wear such nice clothing. This had necessitated a shopping excursion for a new black jacket and a hint of purple to tuck into the pocket.

Tisarwat had probably spent far too much time putting together her outfit and her hair, and she spent probably twice as long deciding on her gloves as she did her mask, because Radchaai priorities were hard to live down, but she had missed parties like this where she felt putting an effort something that was just as much a conversation piece as it was an outfit terribly. She doubted any of it would be even half as appreciated here as it would back home, but that hadn't stopped her before.

You know what had been an absolute adventure? Finding a mask that would work on a Zora, especially one with as unique as a headshape as Sidon's! But Sidon had managed to pull something together after all, although it absolutely had to be custom-made and described because there was surely nothing like it anywhere else! In the same colors of aquamarine blue and shocking yellow as the ridges of his gils, the mask fit snuggly under the ridge of his headfin, his bright yellow eyes peeking out with excitement over the shape of it as it hugged the smooth planes of his cheeks. Little curls like waves, or perhaps pearlescent seashells framed his mouth, though it left plenty of room for his bright and toothy smile. All of it trimmed with the same silver of the jewelry he wore.

Jewelry, and little else, except for his belt and his cravaet and a slightly more celemonial sash across his chest for the occasion. He had to admit, the ease he had in picking an outfit definitely counterbalanced the difficulty in obtaining a mask for the event!

And he sure hope they had high ceiling here, or else he was going to be feeling this terribly in his back from all the stooping come tomorrow!

There wasn't much of a point to opening up the Nest on a party night. Normally Lucifer still would, because sometimes it was nice to brood, but he was... in a place where being alone anywhere didn't feel like such a good idea.

So there he was, a red-and-black metal mask on with a feather or two to match his classic suit. "Hello, newbies!"

Liz normally didn’t do parties especially since the BPRD wasn’t known for its social life but she was trying to be better about socialising and thought a party was one way to fix that, even if she didn’t actually know the hosts.

Her dress was a few years old, rather long and a bit more revealing than she was used. She’d also gone for a blue masquerade mask.

She hovered uncertainly near the doorway.

Rosa was really only here for the booze promised on the flyers and because it did actually seem like a good chance to just sort of hang back and watch people get stupid drunk. So she was there, not really putting a whole lot of effort into her ensemble, but, hey, at least she kept it matching with the lace with her mask?

Well look at this. Was this Dwight actually going to a party, and a fancy one at that? Why yes, yes it was... in all his uneasy glory. Parties were not really his thing, especially fancy ones that involved masks and what not. Yet here he was, being all social and friendly and stepping out of his comfort zone.

At least he had already had the suit and had managed to find a mask without too much trouble.

It had been a tough choice for Shunsui, who felt it might be a little bold of him to shirk his signature haori (and, if he was honest, it was a little bit painful to actually leave it behind), but....it felt like the right occasion to mix it up a little, and if you have the fanart.... Margo-chan struck him as the type of person who would enjoy a particularly dramatic change of scenery.

So while he still wore his Shinigami robes and his swords and his sake jug, his blue sash had been switched out with a pink one, his pink haori swapped for one of an autumnal vibe, with a half mask to bring out the blue in the haori.

He paired it with a black shirt and leather pants and was now loitering by the door like a vampire who needed an express invitation to enter. Because, well. He did.

Steve had left Danny locked up in the apartment and was hoping that his kitty self would be content for a while to just knock things off counters and nap.

He refused to dress up unless dress blues were involved and without Danny to sigh at him about being appropriate, he was now at the party in a black t-shirt and cargo pants and a mask he'd snagged from the pile.

Liam’s suit was (like nearly everything else he owned) a simple, black, and stupidly expensive affair. And while the suit may not have had much color to it, the purple and silver mask he’d found did, at least?

Knowing (....hoping, ohgod!) that her entrance alone was going to make a pretty big statement, Summer, who had portaled in earlier that day under the cloak of having your own method of convenient interdimensional travel, decided to go with some simple shimmer and a simple mask and was ready to spend the next few minutes with her stomach flip-flopping over what the hell she was going to do if she showed up to this thing and people were just all, like...MEH.

So she squared her shoulders when she finally went to knock on the door.

Congratulations, Margo and Eliot. Your party even managed to pull Summer Smith out of space.

....like it was really that hard. She literally paid Leroy to be on party watch for her and to let her know if there was anything she shouldn't be missing, because, yeah, hello, personal portal gun, and it just so happened that she was between missions right now, so it just kind of worked out, and who even knew when she'd have the chance to just drop in like this again?

Hannibal took just a moment at the door to straighten his cuffs from the walk before he knocked. For the evening, he was dressed in a cream-colored, double-breasted suit with a faint gold-thread plaid in it, along with a gold brocade waistcoat and a matching, musical-themed mask. Hopefully that was up to standards.
