Party night. The best of nights. An ornate sign on 33 Apocalypse’s door invited all to knock and make themselves known.

The space inside was bigger than it looked from the outside, stretched and displaced by magic. The wallpaper was green and textured, hinting at the English countryside. On one side of the room sat a significant bar offering food and drinks, while the other gave ample space to sit. A large Jenga tower held prominence in a corner.

It was easy to miss it, though, in favor of the little streams of water that ran across furniture and floor. Tiny glass gondolas, animated by magic, made their way back and forth across each stream. The gondolas were real, though the water itself was an illusion. It called attention to the ceiling, doubly enchanted: both to draw all cigarette smoke to itself so it wouldn’t blow in anyone’s face, but also to mimic the starry sky above Venice.

You could watch the stars twinkle, or see the occasional cloud go by. Magical fireflies added to the illusion, dancing through the air like tiny lights. If you listened closely, you could hear the sea rolling in across an invisible beach. Even the air smelled faintly of it: the sea, warm food and good wine.

Welcome to Eliot and Margo’s pad, people. They’d make damn sure you had a good time.

Oh look, someone just as uncomfortable looking as he was.

"Hey, Amaya" Dwight said as he walked over. "Good to see you. Looks like you've been busy" he said with an appreciative nod at the mask.

Their discomfort was so in step that Amaya practically felt herself gravitating toward Dwight out of desperation even before she realized he'd joined in on the festivities, and there was no holding back her immense sigh of relief when he walked on over.

And then a small smile for the fact that he'd honed in on the one thing she actually did feel comfortable about with this entire party.

"Oh, what?" she asked, with a slight gesture toward it. "This? Ahhh." She waved that hand dismisively. "Just whipped it up real quick, no big deal. Figured it might be a little more interesting that a store-bought one, and, you know, good advertising opportunity, too, if anyone's got a fine eye for such work as you do."

She nodded, with an approving look at his own mask. "Good to see you made it."

Because now she had at least one person she could be slightly less awkward around. Huzzah!

"Well you did a good job with it, in any case. I unfortunately had to go with simple and store bought. Course, don't think there's much point in trying to actually try and hide behind a mask." Dwight gave a vague gesture at himself. "All this kinda stands out in any crowd no matter what I do" he said with a chuckle.

Dwight thought for a moment trying to remember when it actually was that he last went to any sort of big fancy party or event like this? It had been longer than he could remember because he surely had to have attended some fancy shindig since his wedding oh so long ago.... Dwight shook his head and gave Amaya a smile.

"But yeah, figured it was time to get out of my comfort zone and actually try to socialize and show up at one of these things... not sure how good it's going to go. But I'm here right?"

"You're here," Amaya confirmed with a nod. And thank the stars for that! "That's what counts. And, really, I'm hoping all this fancy stuff," she gave her hand a general wave, with a wrinkle of her nose because she was pretty sure it was all magic anyway, "is just the bells and whistles to impress people, and, soon enough, the whole thing'll settle down like most of these gatherings do, into just a normal party where everyone forgets that they came here to be fancy to begin with."

Oh Amaya, the fact that it was mostly magic was probably going to mean it would be around for a most of the night. The two of you might as well just get comfortable hiding in the corner cuz the glitz was probably gonna go for a while. Though there was a lot worse people that he could end up chatting with at a party, so Dwight was gonna count his blessings and just continue being glad Amaya had decided to come to the shindig too.

"If nothing else at least there are plenty of people here so people watching can definitely be a thing! Just glad there's at least one person here I don't feel intimidated by" he added with a laugh.

"And," Amaya pointed out, with a grateful lift of the cup in her hand, "plenty of booze! That alone should help us get through the night! Still, though, I suppose it could be worse. I didn't know it was royalty running the thing, but, well, it's still better than what you get with royal parties back home, I can tell you that much!"

"Yeah the closest we usually get back home are celebrities. But Margo and Eliot seem pretty decent, for the most part. So yeah, could definitely do a lot worst for a party with royalty." The booze weren't hurting any though Dwight was gonna have to lay off the cocktails and try and find some plain ole beer here soon.

Yeah, Amaya got one look at this place and decided, so long as it actually worked, she was not going to be picky about what for her alcohol was taking tonight.

"I haven't really got to know them very well yet," she admitted. "But it didn't take too long for me and Margo to get into discussing weapons, so that's off to a better start than most, really! Might even get Eliot to take a peek into the shop at some point, too!"

Because that was how Amaya guaged success at these functions: how many new people she could get interested in her goods and wares.

it had been working out great for her so far!

"Well if anyone can win them over it is you, Amaya."

Whether that be for swords or anything else that those two could possibly ever want.

"Pfffttt," said Amaya, eloquently, with a snort, but a faint proud grin that she was hiding poorly in her drink.

"We'll just have to wait and see," she then decided, before turning the attention of the conversation onto him before she wound up getting a head so big she'd fall over all of a sudden.

"So how's being back from the trip?" she asked. "Getting back into the rhythm of things, I take it?"

She'd expect no less from Dwight, really.

"Yeah back on track for the most part. With the routine at least. A week of all that fancy food and drink and not much of a workout routine is going to take some time to get back under control" he said giving his stomach a pat as he laughed.

"But things are good at the shop. Got the first shipment of supplies from the vendor I found up in Boston. Almost finished up a few prototypes of those boxes. So, if you wanna stop by or I can bring then over and we cab see what you think."

Cuz you know, it was good that he was staying so busy. There was never such a thing as too many projects to have going on at once right?

If Amaya decided to prescribe to a religion, it would definitely be the Church of Too Many Projects Going On At Once. In fact, they might as well even make her High Priestess right off the bat!

"I'd love to," she said eagerly. "Matter of fact, I wouldn't mind expediating those a little bit, if you've got the time. It would be great to start setting those up on the new Etsy shop, and I'll be sure to share a portion of those sales with my partner in crime, of course!"

"Sure! I have some nice wood set aside for the actual boxes so soon as we can get together and collaborate I can start working on the real ones to get things ready to sell. How does that sound, partner?" Dwight said with a smirk, resisting the urge to suggest they just quietly ditch the party and head to the shop, even if it was the middle of the night by that point and time.

"Sounds like music to my ears!" Amaya decided with a big grin on her face, before thrusting out her hand. "Put 'er there!"

Dorks.

They were both such big, huge dorks.

But Amaya would be glad that they didn't give into the siren call of hteir respective workshops after all; she would wind up killing it on the marketing tonight!

Dorks yes. But admittedly adorable dorks who could feed off each other's nervous energy indefinitely it seemed.

Dwight returned the handshake with a grin. He'd have to see how this whole Etsy thing went. Didn't make a lot of sense to him but he made no claim to be up with the times with these kinds of things.

"So, will be seeing you around soon im sure then" he said with a grin of his own. "It'll be a... good brainstorming session."

Date. He had almost said date...but that was ok right? Business date... That was a thing right?
